Erika Alexander explains why White executives only cast Black actors in stereotypical roles
This is really good. I especially like how she noted the change from 90s Black television to now; reveals the intentional segregated content in television lineups/channels and how minimal the roles are for Black actors, especially as leads, on network channels. Also, the context by which she mentions the labeling of “Black shows” as an issue is a major point; usually this is brought up solely for the purpose of erasure of Blackness. She posits the opposite. Great.
