Cheap! Simple! Home made tortilla chips.
My best friend showed me this trick.
- Buy tortillas
- Cut them in quarters
- Lightly fry them - be careful to drain any oil out of the chip
- Salt to taste
- Add salsa
These are so good!!
That’s how they make them at Taqueria Guadalajara in Davis, CA. They’re thicker than corn tortilla chips but I could have eaten them all day. I miss that place.
You can do a similar method for making tortilla strips for soup or salad toppings. Brush some olive oil on a tortilla, season, and wrap it into a tube. Cut into quarter-inch strips. Then put it in your toaster oven at 350 degrees until it’s your favorite shade of golden brown.
