“Anarchy in the U.K.” by Sex Pistols
(Words/Music: Steve Jones/Glen Matlock/Paul Cook/Johnny Rotten, Album: Never Mind the Bollocks, Here’s the Sex Pistols, Virgin 1977)
themesong: guinea pig
When I think of musical guinea pigs, I immediately think of the Sex Pistols who, let’s face it, despite their immense influence, were Malcolm McLaren’s answer to the question “What if?” While McLaren wanted to affect social and political change through fashion, he also realized that he could sell more clothes if there was a musical scene involved. Sic Vicious, Johnny Rotten, Paul Cook, and Steve Jones would eventually become McLaren’s own musical guinea pigs.
